UNIMAS Students Gain Insight into Photography with Sarawak Photo-Art Society

This week, students at University Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) had the unique opportunity to join an enriching PhotoTalks session organized by the Sarawak Photo-Art Society. The event, held on campus, combined inspiration and practical knowledge, offering insights into the world of photography through the expertise of the society's president, Kelvin Chan. Chan, an international award-winning photographer renowned for his work, shared his journey, tips, and creative insights with students eager to advance their photography skills.

As the driving force behind the Sarawak Photo-Art Society, Chan introduced the society's mission and initiatives to the students, emphasizing the value of community, mentorship, and continual learning in photography. The session was further enhanced with the support of Canon Malaysia, Great Wall Camera and Onsmo, who generously provided camera gear for students to test and explore. This hands-on experience allowed budding photographers to familiarize themselves with high-quality equipment, guided by industry experts.

The PhotoTalks session inspired the students to experiment with their own creative ideas while also instilling a strong understanding of the technical aspects. Whether beginners or seasoned photographers, participants left with new perspectives and practical skills to apply in their own projects. As Sarawak Photo-Art Society continues to champion photography within local communities, it’s clear that initiatives like these are instrumental in cultivating a vibrant culture of visual storytelling among aspiring photographers in Malaysia.
